EastEnders couple Ted and Joyce Murray will learn their fates tonight as Johnny Carter's shooting storyline reaches a conclusion.

The Murrays have faced an anxious wait to see whether they are heading to jail, after Ted shot Johnny amid the chaos of the Walford In Bloom disaster week.

Ted made the terrible mistake as he was haunted by traumatic memories from his time in the army after the shock gas explosion on the Square.

Joyce (Maggie Steed) then made matters worse in the aftermath by making a false confession to the police that she was the shooter, something which they quickly discovered wasn't the case.

When the truth finally came out, Ted was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm and using it to cause grievous bodily harm, while Joyce was also hauled in on suspicion of perverting the course of justice to cover up for her husband.

With their trial fast approaching, Ted and Joyce have spent the last few days preparing for the worst – accepting the sad reality that they could both end up in jail.

Ted and Joyce will brace themselves as they head to court and hear their fates tonight, but are they being sent to prison? Or will they be spared a custodial sentence?

EastEnders airs these scenes tonight (Thursday, November 23) at 7.30pm on BBC One.
