Ben Mitchell has opened up to dad Phil about his rape in EastEnders.

The past several weeks have seen Ben struggling with the aftermath of being raped by barman Lewis, leading to shocking scenes this week when he collapsed after taking drugs.

Thursday's (August 4) double bill saw Phil at Ben's bedside where he tried to make amends for not supporting him enough over the last few months.

"You've got to get yourself patched up, get yourself sorted out. Because the future, it's the future that matters," Phil told his son. "You can turn this around and get yourself back to where you were."

It was here where Ben finally opened up to his father about being sexually assaulted by barman Lewis, though he insisted he never felt comfortable confiding in his dad.

"Why did I do all them drugs, go to all them parties? Why do you think? I did because when I did that I didn't have to think about anything else," Ben said.

Ben ordered his father to leave, but Phil remained by his side and insisted he wanted to support his son. Phil admitted he'd looked away, just as he had when Stella was abusing Ben as a child.

"I couldn't handle it," Phil confessed, before promising: "I'm listening now and I believe you. I believe you were raped."

A tearful Ben admitted to Phil that he thought his father would be ashamed of him, yet Phil made his feelings very clear: "A coward attacked, assaulted and took advantage of your mum and she couldn't do anything about it either, could she? Don't think for one moment that I've been ashamed of her for that."

Ben confessed he'd been most afraid of telling Phil the truth, with his dad assuring him: "I love you."

Though Phil had made peace with Ben, nothing could be further from the truth with Sam. Phil disowned Sam for selling drugs from his rival Jonah in their nightclub Peggy's.

Throughout the double-bill, Sam attempted to exact revenge on Zack Hudson for telling Sharon about the drug-running scam – however, Kat caught wind and promoted him at the club.

Sam wasn't ready to let things drop with Zack so easily. She threatened Zack to bring her Ben's rapist, Lewis, or she'd tell Phil he too knew about the drugs in Peggy's.

What will Zack decide and what is Sam planning for revenge?
