EastEnders is bringing in Rocky Cotton's wife Jo

Earlier this month, former Emmerdale and Allo Allo! star Vicki Michelle joined the cast of EastEnders in an undisclosed role – and we now know she'll portray Rocky Cotton's wife, Jo.

The BBC has shared a first look at Vicki in character, as well as some details about Jo and her relationship with Rocky.

Jo and Rocky tied the knot over 25 years ago, but because Rocky isn't the most honest about his past, little is known about his previous relationship.

But with Jo now heading to Albert Square, it looks like we'll find out just how Rocky reacts when his shady past catches up with him.

"I'm so excited to be in EastEnders and everyone has been so lovely," said Vicki. "Jo Cotton is a great character and it is such a great story. I can't wait for the audience to meet her."

Executive producer Chris Clenshaw added: "We're thrilled to welcome the immensely talented Vicki to the EastEnders family, as she brings to life the character of Jo Cotton.

"Vicki is the perfect fit to take on the elusive character of Rocky's wife that we know very little about.

"Brash, quick-witted, and extremely glamorous, Jo is akin to her long-lost husband, Rocky and as you would expect she is immediately thrown into the heart of the drama when she arrives in Walford."

As well as her small role on Emmerdale, Vicki also appeared as Yvette Carte-Blanche in the long-running comedy series 'Allo Allo!, and participated in the fourteenth series of I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! on ITV.

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
