EastEnders' Kathy Beale will officially open a gay bar in Walford.

The storyline was the subject of a theory from soap fans recently, and it looks like the show's upcoming Pride parade has kickstarted a deeper look into on-screen representation.

In upcoming episodes, Kathy is inspired by her son Ben Mitchell and later reveals to him that she sold the diamond necklace he gave her in order to purchase the lease for The Albert – with plans to open a gay bar.

Kathy asks Kim for advice on how she should approach setting up the bar, whilst also enlisting Tina and Ben to assist with her plans for the property.

It soon becomes apparent that Kathy's pretty clueless about the whole thing, leaving them both a little surprised and nervous.

It looks like Tina will also play a massive role in deciding the name of the new bar, after she offers Kathy a few of her own ideas.

Let's hope it's a little more inventive than The Albert...

EastEnders airs on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights on BBC One.
