EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has confirmed that Denise Fox will be at the centre of the interactive twist that will play a key role in the show’s 40th anniversary celebrations.

Last year, the soap confirmed that to mark the show’s big milestone, there will be an episode in February which is broadcast fully live from BBC Elstree Centre.

This will be the show’s first live episode for a decade, but this time there will be a twist, with the audience getting the chance to choose their desired outcome of a love story.

It has now been revealed that viewers will soon get the power to decide whether Denise chooses to reunite with her ex-husband Jack or pursue a relationship with secret lover Ravi.

Denise and Jack’s marriage fell apart last year following his affair with Stacey. The pair briefly reunited recently but eventually made their divorce official after another argument.

Meanwhile, Denise has been in a secret relationship with former flame Ravi for a couple of weeks, after the pair shared a romantic kiss on Christmas Day. But the situation is complicated, especially as Ravi was previously in a serious relationship with Denise’s daughter Chelsea.

In tonight’s episode (January 6), Ravi urged Denise to walk away from their romance, after admitting that he deliberately pushed his dad Nish off the balcony to his death on New Year’s Day.

But there is a lot more to come, as viewers will watch Denise continue to be torn between the two men in her life – but ultimately, the viewers will decide on the outcome.

The result will play out in the show’s live episode, with the cast and crew prepared to adapt the scene to reflect the result that is voted for by the public.

Executive producer Chris Clenshaw said: "We’re all so excited to give our audience their first ever chance to decide how one of our big storylines plays out. Their votes will determine whether Denise picks Jack or Ravi, with the outcome being revealed as part of our live episode.

"There is a lot to come over the next few weeks for all three involved, so it’ll be extremely exciting to see which way the audience choose to take the story!"

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
