EastEnders has confirmed bosses have given a "warning" to Jessie Wallace following her arrest.

A spokesperson for the BBC One series confirmed on Tuesday (June 21) that bosses have spoken to the Kat Slater actress about an incident that occurred between her and a police officer in Suffolk over the weekend.

"Senior bosses have spoken to Jessie Wallace about the incident and issued a clear warning that this kind of behaviour is unacceptable and Jessie has expressed her deep regret," a BBC spokesperson told The Sun.

A confrontation between Wallace and a police officer allegedly occurred outside the Verve nightclub in Bury St Edmunds early on Sunday morning.

Suffolk Police subsequently confirmed that Wallace has received a caution over the matter, saying in a statement: "A 50-year-old woman was arrested early on Sunday morning in St Andrew's Street, Bury St Edmunds, on suspicion of assaulting a police officer/drunk and disorderly conduct.

"[She] was released without charge after receiving a conditional caution."

The actress is currently involved in a high-profile storyline in EastEnders, as her character Kat Slater jockeys for control of the Mitchell business empire with Samantha Mitchell.

Next week, Kat's life will be at risk — alongside Sam, Shirley Carter and Sharon Watts — when two heavily-armed men bust into Peggy's nightclub before a gunshot rings out.

Before long, Sam is forced to lead the two men to the club's safe. Will all four women make it out alive from this robbery attempt?

EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
