EastEnders confirms shock collapse for Ben Mitchell in drugs story

Ben Mitchell is set for a shock collapse after a party as his drug use begins to spiral out of control.

EastEnders' ongoing drugs story sees Ben (Max Bowden) continue to struggle to process being sexually assaulted by barman Lewis Butler earlier in the year.

Upcoming scenes will show tha,t after an upsetting exchange with his daughter Lexi (Isabella Brown), Ben heads out with newcomer James where he takes parties and takes drugs.

Once back in Walford, Ben attempts to make his way to dinner with Lexi, leaving a voicemail for her telling her that he's running late, but he never makes it to dinner.

Feeling worse for wear, Ben collapses, leaving Kathy and their family wondering where he is.

Ben's behaviour has been on a downward spiral recently. Ben made the controversial decision to tell Kheerat and the rest of the Panesar family that he was responsible for Jags's death last year.

Ben had been feeling guilty about how much Kheerat had been supporting him recently, and realised that the guilt of his past secret – and the drug use – was too much to handle, with the revelation shocking both Phil and Kathy.

Phil told him he'd had enough of him and was cutting him off, but Kathy was so worried about Ben that she decided to tell Phil the truth about how Ben was raped.

It's only going to get more difficult when Kheerat insists Ben buys him out of the business in the wake of Ben's confession and Kathy has a huge decision to make when Phil refuses to help.

These scenes air on Monday August 1st at 7.30pm on BBC Two.
