EastEnders' Dean Wicks drops Shirley bombshell in iPlayer episode
EastEnders spoilers follow.
EastEnders' Dean Wicks dropped a major bombshell about his mum Shirley in today's episode (October 31).
Shirley has not been seen since she walked out of Walford last December, heartbroken over her son Mick's tragic disappearance.
Tuesday's visit to Walford, which is currently available to watch on BBC iPlayer, saw Linda forced to deal with the aftermath of Dean's shock return.
Dean turned up at The Vic in Monday's cliffhanger, horrifying Linda – who was on her own in the kitchen.
As Linda demanded to know why Dean had returned after all this time, he confirmed that he’s Cindy's new business partner and that his daughter Jade is desperately unwell.
Dean also claimed that he's not only back in touch with Shirley, but that he’s managed to convince her that he's not a rapist.
Dean also told Linda that Shirley had suffered a breakdown in her time away from Walford, and had been hurt by Linda's silence since the picture she saw back in February.
Linda was rightly sceptical about Dean's claims and demanded to know what Shirley's official diagnosis was.
With Dean remaining evasive, Linda later took her mum Elaine's advice and tried to reach out to Shirley herself.
However, Linda was left panicked when she was unable to get through.
Show boss Chris Clenshaw recently addressed Shirley's absence from the show in an interview with Digital Spy, saying: "Linda Henry is currently on a break from the show.
"Shirley walked out of Walford last year with Lady Di in the wake of Mick's disappearance, but it won't be the last you see of her."
EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
