EastEnders star Diane Parish has hinted that fans may not have seen the last of Denise and Phil's son Ray.
Denise made the heart-wrenching decision to put her newborn baby boy up for adoption earlier this year, having fallen pregnant after a drunken one-night stand with Phil last April.
But given that it's somewhat of a soap tradition for adoptive babies to boomerang their way back into their parents' lives, Diane – who plays Denise – is fully expecting the writers to reintroduce Ray one day.
When asked if she'd like Denise to reconnect with Ray, Diane said to Inside Soap: "Definitely! Kush still doesn't know that Phil is the dad, and it presents so much drama for the likes of Sharon, Ben and Louise as well.
"The fallout could be massive. Ray Mitchell could be massive. Ray Mitchell will turn up in the Square one day looking for his old man, I'm sure!"
Speaking about her reaction when she found out Denise was going to have Phil's baby, Diane said:" I usually behave myself in the executive producer's office, but when our boss at the time told me, I ran around screaming and needed a little lie-down on the floor [laughs].
"Even now Steve [McFadden, who plays Phil] will jokingly say to me, 'We've got a baby together', and I just reply, 'I know, darling!'"
EastEnders continues on Thursday, September 14 at 7.30pm on BBC One.
