EastEnders fans 'crack' Amelia's true identity and it's bad news for Elaine Peacock

EastEnders fans are convinced newcomer Amelia is the secret lover of George Knight (Colin Salmon), and is lying about her identity, as the mystery surrounding Cindy Beale's (Michelle Collins) attempted murder intensifies.

The BBC One soap has been continuing its dramatic whodunnit from Christmas Day, which saw nine suspects emerge for striking Cindy with a shovel and leaving her for dead. After a short stint in a coma, Cindy regained consciousness and returned to the Square, but has no idea who tried to kill her, and why.

In recent weeks, most suspects have come under fire for their lies around the night. Last week, Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) was forced to reveal that she had slept with Freddie Slater (Bobby Brazier) on the night of the attack, leaving her sister Anna (Molly Rainford) shocked.

On Thursday (January 30), Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) remained determined to get to the truth and headed to the Vic, where she discovered the shovel used to bash her over the head had been hidden.

Elsewhere, Gina bumped into a neighbour of Junior’s, called Amelia (Melissa Batchelor), who insisted on showing her some CCTV from outside his flat. The footage revealed that he wasn’t at home for Christmas night when he said he had been – meaning Gina was sure it was him.

Cindy later handed the shovel into the police hoping it would determined who her attacker was.

Gina then visited her mum Cindy and presented her with a video of Junior trying to call her phone while taking his anger out of a pile of trash outside of his flat.

"The neighbour wanted to take it to the police, but she's a sex worker and she didn't want the attention", Gina told Cindy.

So far, George's whereabouts on the night of Cindy's attack are not clear, though he did ask his brother Kojo (Dayo Koleosho) for an alibi.

But EastEnders fans think George was with Amelia on Christmas Day, who is a member of the Ford family who Cindy was hiding from during witness protection.

Taking to X, one person wrote: "Do we think there might be more to “Amelia” than meets the eye? Seemed a lot for a one scene character. She’s apparently a sex worker and we do know that Ian likes that sort of thing when he’s in an emotional crisis….? #EastEnders."

A second added: "Maybe George visited her that night #EastEnders @bbceastenders", while another replied: "Oooooh! Maybe!!".

"Having the real killer be someone like Amelia who enters the story at the end, and is also not who they say they are, is classic detective fiction plotting. In my theory, Amelia has been there all along, watching and waiting — we just haven’t seen her. #EastEnders."
