EastEnders enthusiasts are speculating that Jane Beale (Laurie Brett) is making a comeback to Walford as her ex-husband Ian (Adam Woodyatt) starts behaving oddly in upcoming episodes.

Jane Beale was wedded to Ian from 2007 to 2011. The couple tied the knot again in 2015 and exited the Square in 2017 under Max Branning's instructions, but she always considered Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell) as her own child.

She had been a key character in the BBC soap, joining in 2004 and being one of Ian Beale's numerous wives. However, her reputation was tarnished when it was revealed she was implicated in the mystery surrounding Lucy Beale's (Hetti Bywater) death.

Jane had acted like a mother to Ian's son, Bobby and when he unintentionally killed his sister by striking her on the head with a jewellery box, Jane relocated Lucy's body to the woods to prevent him from facing any repercussions, reports the Daily Star.

When the truth surfaced, Jane departed Walford after Max (Jake Woods) was nearly jailed after being accused of murdering Lucy. Although she hasn't been seen since 2017, fans are convinced she is on the brink of returning due to Ian's mysterious behaviour.

As Bobby Beale (Clay Milner-Russell) prepares to celebrate his 21st birthday, he acknowledges that not all his family members are keen on celebrating as he hints at Cindy Beale's (Michelle Collins) animosity towards him. EastEnders followers will know Bobby is scheduled to leave Walford this year.

In Wednesday's episode of The Square, Ian is seen stepping out of his house to take a covert phone call. "Listen, I told you, I call you, not you call me", he says to the unknown caller.

His chat is cut short by Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) and Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman), who question what's troubling the businessman.

Next, Ian is spotted strolling through the market, engrossed in his mobile phone. He's halted by Anna Knight (Molly Rainford) who proposes throwing a surprise party for her boyfriend Bobby at The Vic in a fortnight.

Ian retorts: "Bobby is like me, he doesn't like surprises", as he outright rejects the suggestion before striding away.

The latest EastEnders spoilers hint that Ian is concealing something from his family, leading some fans to believe he's communicating with Jane Beale.

On X (previously known as Twitter), one viewer posted: "I have a really good feeling this "mystery person" Ian is speaking to is Jane, manifesting a Jane return! ! #EastEnders." (sic).

Another speculated: "Jane Beale returns for a brief stint then leaves and takes Bobby with her #EastEnders."

A third predicted: "Jane Beale looms and I can't wait! #EastEnders."

"Jane, let it be JANE!! #EastEnders", one fan exclaimed. "I know it's not going to be but I would love this to be a Jane return #EastEnders", another added.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
