EastEnders is bringing back Cora Cross as Ann Mitchell has finally returned to filming after an extended break.

Cora was last seen in December 2015 when she was placed in sheltered housing outside of Walford, after she ended up homeless following the death of her partner Stan Carter.

As Cora didn't appear to get a proper exit, fans were left wondering if we would ever see her again – especially as her granddaughters Lauren and Abi Branning are still living on the Square.

However, Ann has been seen filming with the cast recently, finally answering the question of whether Cora would be back.

With EastEnders remaining tight-lipped on further story details, viewers will have to keep watching to see how and why Cora's return comes about.

A spokesperson for EastEnders said to Digital Spy: "We don't comment on storyline speculation as we don't want to spoil it for the viewers."

Cora joined the show in 2011 and stayed for four years, before taking a break in April 2015. She returned in July of that year and appeared until December, when her story came to a conclusion.

EastEnders continues tonight (March 23) at 7.30pm on BBC One.
