EastEnders’ Harvey to make a big sacrifice for Jean next week

EastEnders spoilers follow.

Harvey Monroe is set to make a big sacrifice for Jean Slater in new scenes on EastEnders.

Viewers will know that the couple have recently been on a bit of a break in their relationship after Jean learned Harvey was working long hours to make money for Maya Houssain.

This came after Harvey learned that Maya’s husband Abdul was the man his right-wing extremist son Aaron attempted to kill a few years back, Maya arriving in Albert Square earlier this year in an attempt to get even.

However, amid his overworking, Harvey narrowly avoided tragedy after falling asleep with baby Charli in a hot car, and Maya decided to cut off contact with Harvey after learning about the near-miss.

Harvey also left Jean shocked after confessing his secret work to her, leaving her unable to trust him as she declared: "I don't think there is any 'me and you' anymore, Harvey."

In new scenes airing next week, Harvey scores a trip to Greece after winning a radio competition, asking Jean if she wants to go with him.

She refuses, however, leaving Harvey disappointed. Instead, he kindly offers the tickets to her and Stacey instead of him, leaving Jean touched.

Will this begin to thaw their relationship?

In other EastEnders news, star Joel Beckett has explained the shock return of his character Jake Moon this week.

"My agent got a phone call asking ‘Would I be interested in going back?’. The second sentence followed ‘just for a day’," he recalled. "Your mind starts to go through things, especially from a technical point of view, you think, ‘What can they possibly film in a day?’

"I assumed that it would be something to do with Chrissie, but I thought it would be me standing outside the prison gates. I didn’t expect to go back on the Square.

"So I thought a day going back there after such a long hiatus would be great. It was a lovely day out, as I kept saying when I was on set.”

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
