Ian Beale will suffer a shock collapse as his new health storyline steps up a gear on EastEnders next week.

Ian's well-being has sparked concern among fans over the last few weeks after some hints suggested that he could be suffering from a mystery illness.

Upcoming scenes will see him be advised to visit his GP following a routine health check, where it becomes clear that all really isn't well with Ian.

But after undergoing some further tests, Ian (Adam Woodyatt) will do his best to put his health concerns to the back of his mind by making plans for his birthday instead.

Luckily, his family aren't willing to let it slide so easily and hassle him to chase up his test results and tackle any potential problems face on.

When Ian later receives a text asking him to make another appointment to discuss the results, he realises he can't ignore the inevitable any longer. But the problem is - he's just about to take part in a pancake race organised by the Carters.

Determined not to be deterred by his impending health news, Ian takes part in the race regardless, but ends up collapsing after pushing himself too hard.

As Ian recovers, Jane puts her foot down and calls the doctor on his behalf, leaving him so fearful over what's next that he starts to prepare for his own death.

Jane is horrified when she catches Ian writing his will and does her best to calm his fears. But what is wrong with Ian? And will he be alright?
