EastEnders bosses have defended Danny Dyer following another set of false allegations about his off-screen behaviour.

Danny has spent the past few days in the headlines following confirmation that he's taking a short break from his role as Mick Carter in the BBC soap.

As one of the show's most high-profile cast members, there's been plenty of speculation over why he's taking time out – but now a Sunday newspaper has wrongly suggested that he's been forced out for behaving badly on set.

Among the unsubstantiated allegations are damaging rumours that Danny had sparked a backlash by repeatedly storming off set, talking down to crew members and falling out with established stars like Adam Woodyatt (Ian Beale) and Steve McFadden (Phil Mitchell).

However, issuing a strong denial to Digital Spy, an EastEnders spokesperson insisted: "There is absolutely no truth in any of these allegations. Danny is always a consummate professional.

"Danny has never walked off set, nor has he ever lost his temper or been rude to anyone at work.

"Danny is an extremely popular member of cast and respected by everyone on the show."

Danny's popularity with his EastEnders colleagues was clear for all to see just a few months ago, when a number of his co-stars turned out to support him when he tied the knot with his childhood sweetheart Joanne Mas in September.

Speculation over Danny's future on EastEnders began on Thursday night when one report suggested that he'd been forced to take a break to "sort his life out".

EastEnders set the record straight the next day, telling Digital Spy: "Danny is on a short break from EastEnders. This was not enforced by bosses, nor has he quit the show."

Show bosses have also shot down rumours that they're planning a permanent exit for Mick, telling us: "As previously stated, Danny is on a short break. There is absolutely no truth that an exit storyline is being discussed or planned."
