EastEnders' Jake Wood goes topless at celebrity football match

He has been voted the nation’s ‘weird crush’ for three years in a row, and now unlikely heartthrob Jake Wood has given something back to his thousands of lovestruck fans.

In fact, the EastEnders’ star no doubt sent women everywhere into a tizzy after he decided to strip off whilst playing in a charity football match on Friday.

The actor, who plays lothario Max Branning in the BBC One soap, delighted his fans when he took off his top after the rising temperatures across the UK proved too much, showing off his toned body as he walked up and down the pitch.

Standing on the sidelines in just his football shorts and boots, we wouldn’t be surprised if Jake has already secured himself as next year’s Weird Crush winner after this eye-popping display.

Back in February, Jake took to social media to celebrate winning Heat magazine’s Weird Crush award for the third year running, and he was clearly chuffed to bits by the accolade.

Taking to Twitter, the unconventional hunk shared a photo of himself alongside his three awards on the EastEnders’ set, writing: “Happy Valentines to all my followers from your very own 3x @heatworld Weird Crush winner 2015, 2016 & 2017”.

Professional Twitter troll Piers Morgan seemingly couldn’t resist raining on Jake’s parade, retweeting his original message and adding: “The fact you’ve been voted weirdest man in Britain 3 times should be a cause for concern not celebration, Mr Wood.”

Not missing a beat, Jake quipped back: “For once my wife @alisonrwood agrees with you @piersmorgan”.

Jake has been making EastEnders’ viewers everywhere swoon since he joined the show back in 2006, playing an integral role in high-profile storylines, including Max’s affair with his son’s wife, Stacey Fowler.

Currently, Jake’s onscreen alter-ego is in the midst of attempting to destroy Albert Square and all of its residents after his neighbourhood let him serve time in prison for the murder of Lucy Beale, which was actually committed by Lucy’s younger brother, Bobby.
