Earlier this year, Kat Moon fans were left terrified that the EastEnders’ favourite had been killed off in spin-off show Redwater, with the series ending after the character was left lifeless following a boat crash in June of this year.
In the same episode, Kat’s husband, Alfie Moon, seemingly died during a brain operation following his tumour diagnosis.
However, it appears that at least one half of the beloved power couple has survived, with it being reported that Kat is set to make a sensational return to EastEnders early next year.
Jessie Wallace, who plays the former Queen Vic landlady, will no doubt ruffle feathers upon her return to Albert Square under new executive producer John Yorke, who was the one to introduce the entire Slater family back in 2000.
Speaking to The Sun, an insider explained: “John loves the Slaters, a lot of people thought he might bring some of them back.
“He believes they’re long-standing favourites who should be at the heart of the show and thinks Kat’s return will be a hit.
“Nobody knew if she or Alfie would return so it looked like they had been killed. This will surprise fans.”
It is currently unknown whether Shane Richie, who plays Alfie, will be returning alongside his onscreen wife, or if his speculated death will be confirmed upon Kat’s return.
Jessie played Kat in the BBC One soap from 2000-2005 and 2010-2016, with fans last seeing her in Walford when Kat and Alfie left the square in search of her long-lost son in Ireland, a plot that was covered in Redwater.
