It's EastEnders' 35th anniversary this week (on Wednesday, February 19 specifically), so now is the best time to ask the cast members what their favourite moments from the tenure (or just the soap's general history) are.

Linda Carter actress Kellie Bright has been one of the soap's mainstays for the last few years, having been involved in many major scenes, but which storylines stood out for her?

"The rape storyline was my first big storyline on the show," she said. "It was quite overwhelming because I couldn't believe the response I got to it. You suddenly realise what power the show has and its impact.

"In terms of a challenge, it's probably the current one and Linda's alcoholism. It’s been so rewarding and I've loved every second of it, but it has been really challenging. It's the hardest thing I've ever had to do on screen in anything. It was as terrifying as it was exciting."

"There's so many!" she added when asked about her favourite stories overall from EastEnders. "I love the storylines which involve the audience knowing a secret and you're waiting for the truth to come out.

"The ones that really stick out in my memory are the Phil, Grant, Sharon one and also Stacey, Max, Tanya, and I loved this Christmas for the same reasons with Phil, Keanu and Sharon.

"I just think it works really well, it's classic EastEnders for me, especially when you get the time to get really involved in the stories and characters, and you can see whatever is going on is about real feelings.

"Other moments are like when Carol Jackson came onto the square with her five kids and their whole family and Ricky and Bianca as well. I loved Carol Jackson as a character, I just thought Lindsey (Coulson) was brilliant."

Linda will be one of the characters are the centre of this week's boat disaster storyline, following on from a month-long build-up of her alcoholism storyline, which we think is easily the character's best plotline to date and could have lasting ramifications across Albert Square.

EastEnders airs Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
