EastEnders just killed off Sylvie Carter in a tragic twist that is bound to haunt her family forever.
Thursday's visit to Walford explored the aftermath of Michelle Fowler's shock car crash that has left her life hanging in the balance, but ironically it wasn't the accident that had the biggest repercussions.
The start of the episode saw several characters pull together to drag Michelle and Kush from the wreckage, before they were rushed to hospital to be treated for their injuries.
Although the pair's injuries differed in their severity, the residents were left relieved that the incident hadn't caused any fatalities – with the Carters even saying as much in the pub.
However, away from the drama of the crash, Sylvie still posed a worrying threat as she woke up disorientated at the Vic and decided to run a bath.
With Tina, Whitney and Johnny all oblivious downstairs, Sylvie unknowingly put herself in a dangerous position as she placed a radio by the water so that she could listen to the music she had been enjoying earlier.
When the music stopped, Sylvie got out of the bath to rectify the situation, but the next thing we saw was the electrics blowing in the pub, leaving the Carters to wonder if they'd had a power cut.
When they went to investigate, Tina was horrified to discover Sylvie dead in the bathroom – the implication being that she'd suffered a fatal electric shock.
Viewers had been aware that Sylvie was being killed off in an upcoming storyline, but details of her exit had been kept under wraps until transmission.
EastEnders continues tomorrow night (Friday, March 31) at 8pm on BBC One.
