EastEnders fans have recently seen poor Stacey Fowler involved in some major drama, as she was forced to flee the Square with husband Martin (James Bye) after she attacked Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden).

In reality actress Lacey Turner has been having a much happier time, with Stacey's exit tying in with Lacey's maternity leave as she welcomed her baby daughter Dusty Violet with husband Matt Kay in July.

And although viewers may not be expecting to see Stacey back on the Square for some time yet, The Daily Star has revealed that Lacey has recently been back on set filming just a month after welcoming her baby.

Digital Spy understands that Stacey will only be back very briefly, with Lacey filming a couple of scenes as part of Stacey's ongoing storyline before stepping back to continue her maternity leave, with her full-time comeback set to air much further down the line.

There are also no details on what her scenes will involve – although, with Martin not expected to be away from the Square as long as Stacey will be, it's likely they could be filming Martin's return while Stacey stays on the run for a bit longer.

"Stacey and Martin are planning to lay low and let the dust settle, but I'm sure they'll be in cahoots with the Slaters for updates," Lacey said of her character's exit earlier this month.

"For now, Walford isn't safe for any of them so they had to vanish."

And she's not kidding about Walford not being safe, as Phil is set to demand answers about his attack next week now that he's recovered from Stacey whacking him over the head with a wrench.

Stacey acted quickly in a bid to protect her husband Martin, who in turn was helping Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) when Phil had targeted her, leaving Phil in a critical condition.

Desperate to avoid being caught by the police, Stacey and Martin fled the Square with baby Hope and her daughter Lily, leaving little Arthur with his dad Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami).

With Ben framing Keanu Taylor for the attack and Keanu also leaving the Square as a result, an on-the-mend Phil is now hellbent on getting to the bottom of what really happened on that fateful day.

EastEnders airs on BBC One.
