EastEnders fans are certain they know when Mick Carter could be making a comeback.

Mick (Danny Dyer) made his debut on the BBC soap back in 2013 with the rest of the Carter clan. And the Queen Vic landlord quickly became a hit with viewers. Over the years, Mick had several big stories too. But in 2022, Danny confirmed he was leaving the soap - leaving fans gutted.

And on Christmas Day that year, his explosive exit scenes were aired. Fans will recall how Mick appeared to get lost at sea after plunging into the water to save his estranged wife Linda Carter (Kellie Bright). Despite a body never being found, Mick’s death left ex-wife Linda heartbroken - and since then, fans have been longing for Mick to make a comeback.

Especially in the past year following Linda’s booze relapse and murder of Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters). Still riddled with guilt, Linda is praying that her one and only Mick will return, and during Thursday’s episode (December 5) she reminisced about their past Christmases.

Now, viewers are convinced they know when Mick will be making a return - and it’s soon. Spoilers have revealed that a special episode involving Linda Carter will air later this month. The soap favourite has been struggling with her alcoholism recently, and things are set to take an even darker turn.

There are also rumours of a Christmas Carol-themed episode, with speculation that Linda could be visited by ghosts of her past, present and future, one of them being Mick. Now, fans are certain that the Linda-focused episode on Monday, December 16 will also include the rumoured Christmas Carol twist - which could see the return of Mick via a hallucination.

On a Reddit thread, one person said: “With the newest soap spoilers telling us that December 16th will be an episode completely focused on Linda and her 'dangerous night of alcohol abuse' do we think maybe THAT is the episode we'll see the rumoured Christmas Carol plot?” They added: “We know that Christmas Day is more focused on Cindy and Juniors affair reveal anyway, so it could make more sense to have that episode air pre-Christmas,” they added.

“The only way i can see danny dyer returning is if it’s a part of the christmas carol theory and one of the visions is what it would be like if mick never died,” someone else wrote. A third penned: “I think it could be a Christmas Carol/Hallucination/what if episode for both characters. For example Linda sees Mick as a hallucination & sees multiple scenarios like if she continues to drink etc.”

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
