EastEnders' Nish left devastated by Vinny's decision

EastEnders spoilers follow for the latest episode to air on BBC One and iPlayer.

EastEnders' Vinny Panesar devastated dad Nish in tonight's (September 18) episode.

The residents of the Square were celebrating Vinny's birthday at The Albert when Nish turned up, much to Suki and Eve Unwin's disappointment

Suki, who has been plotting with Vinny to take over the family business, spoke to her ex-husband and they reminisced about life.

"Have I ever thanked you for doing such a fantastic job raising [our kids]? 'Cause if I haven't, thank you," Nish said, leaving Suki stunned.

Later on, Nish gave Vinny a pendant that had been passed down from his grandfather, to his father, and to him.

"I was wearing it the day you were born, and the day I went to prison... The day they gave it back to me, I didn't feel I deserved to wear it any more," he said.

"It would mean a lot to me to see it around your neck. I know we've not had the closest relationship, son, but I want the best for you. The very best."

Vinny was genuinely touched by the gesture, but when he spoke to Suki later she insisted it was just her ex-husband's way of trying to buy their son's affection.

"You can't get sentimental on me," she said.

When Vinny replied that he would try but admitted turning off his feelings doesn't come as easily to him, she tested him by opening up the bin and asking him to get rid of the pendant immediately.

Vinny reluctantly agreed and proved his commitment to Suki, as a devastated Nish looked on. While everyone sang 'Happy Birthday' to Vinny, Nish retrieved the pendant while fighting back tears.

It was a major step back for Nish and Vinny's relationship, as Nish had gone back on his plan to frame Vinny earlier in the week. Now that he's seen this latest betrayal, will he kick-start that plan again, or has he got something even worse in mind?
