Mick Carter is betrayed on EastEnders next week as some huge decisions are made about the Queen Vic behind his back.

The popular landlord is currently off screen for a few weeks after Danny Dyer took a short break from the show, but it seems that his absence couldn't have come at a worse time.

Friday night's episode saw Max Branning (Jake Wood) swoop in to "help" the Carters through their never-ending financial mess, telling Shirley that she should sell him the freehold of the Queen Vic.

Unsure of what to do, Shirley (Linda Henry) confides in newcomer Woody next week as she wonders whether it might be easier to just have Lady Di put to sleep, rather than part with the thousands of pounds needed for her urgent medical treatment, which has caused the latest cash crisis.

Just when it seems like Shirley's mind is made up, Woody (Lee Ryan) gives her food for thought by reminding her just how much Lady Di means to Linda and Mick.

Realising Woody is right, Shirley makes contact with absent landlady Linda Carter and gets some surprising support when she agrees to sell the freehold.

The only condition is that Linda doesn't want Mick to know about it just yet, cutting him out of such a big decision for the Carter family while he's away.

Worried about what's going on without Mick's knowledge, Whitney (Shona McGarty) desperately tries to call him and leaves a message, but she quickly gets caught in the act by Woody.

When it comes to the crunch and Shirley has to make her final decision, will she sign the paperwork or not?

And with Max clearly hiding a huge ulterior motive thanks to his involvement with mysterious property company Weyland & Co, how long will it take Shirley to realise she's made a terrible mistake if she does go through with it?

EastEnders airs these scenes on Monday, April 24 at 8pm and Tuesday, April 25 at 7.30pm on BBC One.
