'EastEnders' preview: The truth about Chantelle revealed as Gray confronted

Time continues to run out for evil Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) in Wednesday’s tense instalment of EastEnders, as he is confronted over his crimes.

We’ve already seen the sinister serial killer hiding out and planning a quick getaway when he realised that Mick (Danny Dyer) and Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) were onto him over Tina’s murder.

But it dawned on Gray just how few allies he had left when he discovered wife Chelsea (Zaraah Abrahams) had lied to him that their baby son Jordan was too unwell to be discharged from hospital.

Though Kheerat Panesar (Jaz Singh Deol) tried to warn Chelsea of Gray’s impending arrival at the hospital, this came far too late. While Kheerat was promptly recognised and arrested over the attack on Gray, Chelsea soon discovered that Jordan was missing.

Rather than go on the run, though, we know Gray will turn to someone else close by for support as the story picks up where it left off.

Expect gripping scenes and prepare to shout at your screens as Gray continues to pull the wool over former mother-in-law Karen Taylor’s (Lorraine Stanley) eyes.

Karen has never wavered in her stance that Gray is a model husband and father. But even as she protects him from the accusations of Tina’s murder, how long can Karen be kept in the dark over the sickening abuse and killing of her daughter Chantelle (Jessica Plummer)?

Karen can be fierce when it comes to her children, so the moment we’re all hoping for is a showdown between her and Gray.

What we can reveal for certain is that Chantelle’s father Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths) is far less convinced by Gray’s vulnerable act, and he is set to find out everything. How will Mitch react when he finally learns the horrifying truth?

Amid her panic over Jordan, Chelsea will also come face-to-face with Gray again. Will she be reunited with their son, and will she confront Gray over his crimes?

The stage is set for more than one showdown, and at this point nobody is aware that Gray also took the life of beloved resident Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami) by brutally shoving him in front of a train.

The soap has promised an almighty downfall for Gray by the end of the week, so here’s hoping it’s the pay-off his victims deserve.
