EastEnders: Ross Kemp Set To Return As Grant Mitchell?

Try not to get too excited, but you might want to dust off your leather biker jacket because word on the street is that Ross Kemp is pretty much set to reprise his role of Grant Mitchell in BBC soap opera EastEnders.

HALLELUJAH.

The actor hasn’t featured in the show for almost a decade, but apparently ‘Enders producer, Dominic Treadwell-Collins, is in the process of persuading him to bring Grant back to our screens next year.

Apparently the hardman will return to Albert Square after he catches wind that his brother, Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), is in trouble with gangster Gavin Sullivan (Paul Nicholas).

Who, it would seem, is in it for the long haul.

Speaking to The Mirror, a show insider revealed: “Dominic has put out discreet feelers and has been quite encouraged by the response. Storylines don’t get much bigger than getting the Mitchell brothers back together.”

In fact, after bringing Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) back from the dead earlier this year, Dominic is apparently keen to reunite the four big guns of yesteryear - Phil, Grant, Kathy, and Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean).

The producer previously teased during a press conference: “I think the fact that you’ve got Phil, Kathy, Sharon - there’s a person missing, isn’t there?

"To get all four on screen at the same time is a dream. As an 'EastEnders’ fan, you want to watch that.”

In the past, Ross has admitted that he wouldn’t say no to bringing Grant back, so long as the time was right, explaining: “I’ve got no problems with going back there. It was 10 years of my life; some of it was happy, some of it wasn’t so happy but I enjoyed most of it, or I wouldn’t have stayed there so long.

"Yeah, if the opportunity comes along and it’s the right time, definitely, why not?”

We can’t think of a single reason why not, babes.

Grant featured heavily in the soap from 1990 until 1999, and then returned for two brief stints in 2005 and 2006.

Could the Mitchell brothers be reunited before 2016 is out? We ruddy hope so…
