EastEnders star Jessie Wallace has been cautioned for allegedly attacking a police officer.

The incident took place during the early hours of Sunday morning (June 19) outside the Verve nightclub in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, The Mirror reports.

A Suffolk Police spokesman said: "A 50-year-old woman was arrested early on Sunday morning in St Andrew's Street, Bury St Edmunds, on suspicion of assaulting a police officer/drunk and disorderly conduct.

"[She] was released without charge after receiving a conditional caution."

The BBC declined to comment on the report.

This week on the BBC One soap, Wallace's character Kat Slater has a big storyline as she and Sam (Kim Medcalf) continue their struggle for control of the Mitchell family businesses, after Sam takes a harsh approach to running the newly-redubbed Peggy's nightclub.

Kat will start to receive threatening calls at the cab office. Though she assumes Shirley Carter is behind them, Kat is alarmed when it becomes clear that Shirley doesn't have anything to do with the threats.

After Harvey and Mitch suffer a shock attack at Kat's Cabs, Kat is alarmed over this violent threat towards the family's business interests, so she tries to convince Sharon Watts to delay the opening of Peggy's.

There has been a power struggle within the Mitchell family ever since Sam returned to Walford earlier this year. Sam tried to set herself up as Phil's main contact on the outside world, now that he is behind bars.

Kat scoffed at Sam taking control of the family business, leading to a clash of egos as they try to keep everything afloat without Phil.

EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
