EastEnders star leaves script on train revealing 'key character will be killed off at Christmas'
An EastEnders cast member is in hot water after accidentally leaving a script on a train containing plot details potentially exposing an upcoming Christmas death twist.
The unnamed actress is reported to have left the rehearsal paperwork on a busy train.
The papers are said to have revealed that a key character will be killed off on Christmas Day.
The top secret document was found on the morning of October 31 on a Thameslink train at Elstree & Borehamwood station in Hertfordshire near where the BBC soap is filmed.
It wasn’t too hard to work out who the script belonged to as specific lines were highlighted along with Post-it notes and it reportedly even included a copy of the star’s work schedule.
The man who found the script pages collected them up and handed them to his EastEnders fan wife who then attempted to get the pages back to where they belonged.
She told The Sun: “[My husband is] not much of a soap fan but he knows I love them, so told me straight away. I was very excited — I love EastEnders. I couldn’t wait to read the script and wasn’t disappointed. There’s a real twist that will shock everyone and a main character is killed off."
The woman tried to reunite the pages with the actress by reaching out to her on social media. When that proved unsuccessful, the pages were returned direct to Eastenders.
An EastEnders spokeswoman said thank you for “safe return of our festive scripts.”
“We know just how much the audience loves watching the drama unfold for themselves, rather than having it spoilt, so our surprises will remain a treat this Christmas and beyond,” the spokeswoman told The Sun.
The Standard has contacted a representative for EastEnders for comment.
Christmas on every soap is always the biggest time for drama and EastEnders is no different.
Last year saw character Keanu Taylor, played by Danny Walters, fatally stabbed with a carving fork by Linda Cart (Kellie Bright) in scenes aired on Christmas Day.
Bright is one of the character’s in the running to loose her life this festive season after members of her onscreen family were pictured filming a funeral with no sign of her.
Shane Richie's Alfie Moon is another potential unfortunate Albert Square resident who could meet his maker.
The actor - who has played the character since 2002 - discussed his character’s future as Alfie continues to battle prostate cancer in a chat with Radio Times last month.
He said: "A few things happened on Christmas, which I intentionally didn’t read [the script] because I knew that Kat and Alfie were going to be involved, and I didn’t really want to know what was going to happen in the Queen Vic on Christmas Day. But oh my God!
"I sat there watching this story unfolding in the Queen Vic that happens on Christmas Day, and as a fan of the show anyway, I was like, 'Oh my God I can’t believe this! Stop!'. I had to do a line and I kept messing it up because I was so taken in with that the storyline that was happening. You’re in for a lovely treat this Christmas Day."
