EastEnders star Shane Richie explains emotional Alfie and Linda scenes
EastEnders spoilers follow.
EastEnders star Shane Richie has revealed there will be emotional scenes for Alfie Moon and Linda Carter.
Recent episodes have seen Alfie diagnosed with prostate cancer, and next week's developments will feature Linda finding out about his health battle.
As he prepares to undergo a prostatectomy at the hospital, Linda arrives – much to Alfie's surprise – to offer moral support. Richie has revealed that his character will appreciate the gesture.

"I think for Alfie it's almost like a sense of relief, because Alfie trusts Linda implicitly," said Richie. "The fact Linda knows and is there for Alfie is a great relief, and he just cries on her shoulder. I think there's a lot of love out there for Alfie and Linda."
"This is a point where Alfie hits rock bottom," he added. "He was just settling back into the Square, he's got a great job at the bookies, he's got a roof over his head and he's got a relationship with Kat and the kids, so this big bombshell has just blown his world apart."
Richie, who returned to the BBC soap last year, also revealed that he spoke with charities ahead of the storyline, with the research helping him to deliver a more nuanced and accurate portrayal.

"The luxury of doing a show like EastEnders is the level of research," he said. "The team works so hard to make sure what we're putting on screen is as accurate as possible,"
"It's great to have access to amazing charities like Macmillan Cancer Support and Prostate Cancer UK, who EastEnders put me in contact with, as it's been so helpful to be able to talk with survivors and people who have gone through this," he added.
EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
