Tameka Empson says she and her 'EastEnders' co-star Diane Parish are like "sisters" in real life.

The 45-year-old actress plays the feisty character Kim Fox in the BBC One soap alongside on-screen sibling Diane Parish, who portrays Denise Fox, and the pair's sisterly bond is the same off screen as on.

She said: “Diane Parish [Denise] is the best person to confide in. I love that woman, she is like a sister to me in real life.

"In the show Denise is the straight one and Kim is all over the place, but in real life we give each other advice and I might be the grown-up one – I know that’s hard to believe!”

Tameka is hoping to share some more scenes with Charlie Brooks, who plays Janine Butcher, in the coming weeks.

She added: “Charlie Brooks is the person I’d love more scenes with. I love how Kim calls her ‘Janice’ and she never corrects her! That stemmed from me having a friend called Tracy. My mum called her Sharon, and Tracy was too polite to put her straight, so she answered to it for years!”

Tameka went to the same theatre school as co-star Natalie Cassidy, and she has praised the Sonia Fowler actress as a “stellar” actor.

She added to Inside Soap magazine: “Natalie Cassidy is extremely astute and one of the most sensible people. She doesn’t miss a thing about details and continuity in a scene, she is a stellar actor. She and I both went to the same theatre school when we were kids, Anna Scher. Nat grew up in the business and learnt from legends like Wendy Richard and now she’s a legend herself. A young legend!”

Tameka is also a star of new online 'EastEnders' spin-off ‘The Kimfluencer’, which launched recently on Facebook and YouTube.

The nine-part BBC comedy series follows Kim around Albert Square as she aspires to become a social media influencer.
