There's tension on Albert Square in tonight’s EastEnders on BBC One at 7.30pm.
Suki Panesar’s (Balvinder Sopal) life is currently hanging in the balance after her son Vinny (Shiv Jalota) discovered his father Nish (Navin Chowdhry) standing over her lifeless body.
Viewers are aware that Suki — who is in love with Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) — has been plotting an escape from her abusive husband Nish.
But when Suki made an anonymous call to the police to report him for a dodgy deal, Nish accused their son of treachery instead.
So Suki confessed that she was the one to betray Nish, and when she told him she had never loved him, he made a sinister attempt to control her into staying by his side. While Nish left the house, suddenly intent on playing the doting dad to Vinny just moments after turning violent with him, Suki called Eve and planned a quick exit from Walford.
But the next time we saw Suki, she was unconscious at the bottom of the stairs. The question is: did nasty Nish catch her on her way out and attack her? And will Suki survive?
Well, it’s certainly obvious that Nish is capable of anything, so we wouldn’t put it past him to be behind Suki’s injuries.
Those wishing to look to the week ahead can find out more about the aftermath via our latest EastEnders spoilers. But in the meantime, Shiv Jalota reveals whether Vinny has any idea just how vile his father really is.
“I think this is why it’s quite difficult to play at times," Jalota says.
"I think there’s a part of him that is aware of how Nish is being with his mum and how Suki can feel uncomfortable at times. In Vinny’s head, he’s getting used to having Nish back in their lives and he’s happy to have them together, no matter what shape or form. There’s a part of him that’s willing to ignore some of his dad’s bad qualities in order to keep the family together.”
On Vinny’s reaction to what happens to Suki, he adds: “Vinny is unsure of the truth behind it, so he has to make a decision. Is his dad all he cracks up to be? Is his mum at risk? Vinny’s illusion that they’re a happy family perhaps isn’t true.”
Will Vinny uncover Nish’s dark side? Find out what happens next as EastEnders continues tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One.
