'EastEnders' viewers spy continuity blunder as Mel finds herself sent forward into the future
EastEnders’ Mel Owen managed to sidestep the usual use of flux capacitors and the like, and found herself blasted forward into the future on Tuesday’s episode of the BBC soap.
Eagle-eyed viewers spotted the blunder in continuity during the scene in which she discovers that her sneaky ex, Sean Mahon’s Ray Kelly, appears to be absolutely loaded.
After using the cash point in the Minute Mart (and now we know why he cared not a jot about the £1.50 charge) to try and get money for the deposit on a wedding ring, Mel is busy chatting to Honey behind the counter.
But after mumbling something about his wages having not gone into his account, he forgets to take away his receipt.
Mel picks it up to find that Ray has got more than £140,000 in the bank.
She also finds that, because the receipt is dated November 8, she’s now two days in the future.
Naturally, viewers picked off such low-hanging fruit, showing the continuity department no mercy whatsoever.
