Being a parent is the most rewarding job in the world, but it comes with its fair share of challenges. One of these can be getting your little one/s to go to bed, especially if they're engaged in an activity they're enjoying.

Mums and dads across the country will likely be familiar with cries of "just one more" or "just five more minutes", and it can be tempting to just give in, especially during the school holidays. But kids need their sleep, to grow and develop, so bedtimes can be tricky.

Thankfully one Reddit user has now shared a hack that "works every time" to get toddlers to go to bed. The user said: "What parenting hack takes the top spot if you can only pick ONE all-time favourite? I’ll go first with my very simple one: Do you want your toddler to do something?

"Binary choices. It’s not 'time to go to bed' it’s 'do you want to go to your bed upside down, or on daddy’s shoulders?' Toddlers LOVE control. Works every time, 89% of the time"

Other users have been quick to share their best parenting tips and tricks too. One said: "If your kid wants something in the store and you cant or don't want to buy it for them, offer to take a picture of it so they can remember it for later. Saved me a lot of tantrums."

A second said: "Setting expectations reduces stress. Know that getting dressed as a toddler might take 20 minutes. Some nights brushing teeth takes 10. If don't expect things to go fast, it won't stress you out so much."

And a third added: "We turned everything into a race. Who can get dressed the fastest? First one into the car wins! I bet I can get my shoes on faster than you. It worked for several years."
