easyJet flight to Manchester lands in Venice following medical emergency
An easyJet flight from Egypt to Manchester landed in Italy following an emergency on-board. Flight U22254 left Sharm El-Sheikh at 8.05pm local time on Wednesday (December 4).
It was due to land at Manchester Airport at 12.10am today (Thursday). But following a medical emergency, the flight was forced to divert to Venice.
easyJet says one of the passengers had required urgent medical attention. After landing at Venice, the passenger was rushed to hospital.

The flight eventually departed Venice, with the remaining passengers landing in Manchester in the early hours of this morning. According to Flightradar24, the flight landed in Manchester at 1.35am.
A spokesman for easyJet said: “easyJet can confirm that flight EZY2254 from Sharm El Sheikh to Manchester on December 4 diverted to Venice due to a passenger requiring urgent medical assistance. On arrival in Venice, the passenger was transferred to hospital and the flight continued to Manchester.
"We wish them a speedy recovery and are in touch with the family to ensure their wellbeing. The safety and wellbeing of its customers and crew is easyJet's highest priority and we would like to thank all other customers on board for their patience and understanding."
