Experts have recently shed light on a savvy travel hack that promises to make your flights with airlines like Ryanair and easyJet far more comfortable without spending any extra money.

The key lies in selecting the best seat when booking, as choosing the correct one can offer significantly more legroom on your journey.

The secret was unveiled by Which? experts who said: "Want more seat on a flight? Sit on the right. Take Ryanair, for example, almost all of their planes are Boeing 737's. So choosing seats D, E or F in rows 3 to 15 will give you the most legroom."

They also advised on the optimal easyJet seating plan, adding: "With easyJet, meanwhile, you should choose seats D, E or F in rows 3 to 13 if you're flying on their Airbus A321neo. It will give you an extra inch of legroom compared to sitting in rows 6 to 17 on the left hand side of the plane."

However, they've cautioned that since every aircraft is different, individual experiences might vary, although generally these seats provide around an inch more space.

They advised: "All planes are different, so it's always worth checking before you book. Just head to Google Flights and type your destination and dates in to find the model number. Then use seat plan experts AeroLOPA to find your aircraft's configuration."

While some TikTok users scoffed at the tip for offering just an extra inch of legroom, taller travellers expressed gratitude for any additional space. One tall passenger commented: "Being 6'1 on a Ryanair flight, an inch is very welcome."

Another quipped: "I'm 6'5, every cm of leg room helps."
