Eatflix cinema to open in old Newcastle ballroom with promise of year round 5D movie magic
From next year, Newcastle will be home to its very own Eatflix cinema, with a promise of all year round 5D movie magic, from the same people whose nights at the bar they own have proved so popular that all tickets for the latest one sold out in just 12 minutes.
Having grown their business Brack Burger from a takeaway service at their family's pub during the Covid pandemic, to them now having bases at St James' Stack, Stack Seaburn, Jesmond and Tynemouth, Joe and Ollie Brack opened Alfie's bar just outside of town a few years ago. Earlier this year the genius that is Eatflix was born at the Argyle Street haunt, with customers getting to tuck into all manner of themed dishes from the first Harry Potter film; with the aim being that people can enjoy food and drink similar to or inspired by what is being eaten by characters on screen. at the same time.
The first Eatflix events became a massive word of mouth success, with people quickly flocking from all over the North East to see what all the fuss is about, before Willy Wonka themed nights quickly followed and earned just as rave reviews, as lucky ticket holders even got to take home their own Wonka bars. Christmas has now arrived at Alfie's with their Home Alone Eatflix nights, with demand for those so high that every single ticket sold out in 12 minutes, even after extra dates had been added.

And now, anyone who is keen for a slice of the Eatflix action on a more regular basis can look forward to much more, with the opening of a permanent Eatflix venue in Heaton. Having searched far and wide for the perfect venue for their latest venture, Joe and Ollie found their dream home for Eatflix - an old ballroom and dance hall on Chillingham Road.
News of the Eatflix cinema was teased at the launch night of Home Alone on Thursday, with the details revealed in full by Joe and Ollie on Friday night, as an Instagram account went live at the same time. Giving followers a sneak peek inside the venue, Joe wrote: "We’ve made menus for some of our favourite films and just recently sold out all our Home Alone Christmas showings in under 12 minutes. This got us thinking… Is there scope to do this on a bigger scale all year round? Christmas, Halloween, Valentines, Easter, anything we wanted. The opportunity with films is endless."
After explaining how he and Ollie were blown away by the 'beautiful features' of the Heaton ballroom, Joe added: "In true Brack Brothers fashion, we dived straight in and I’m thrilled to tell you today, the venue officially became ours; meaning we are about to bring you the North East’s first purpose built 5D taste cinema. Coming February 2025."
