The Galway Girl singer has been tipped to join the filmmaking duo’s upcoming musical comedy.

According to The Mail, the singing sensation is rumoured to have a role in the film entitled All You Need is Love.

The publication reports that the film is centred around a man who wakes up one day to find he is the only person who can remember the songs of The Beatles.

Sheeran is supposedly due to appear on screen as well as write new music for the film, including hits of the Liverpool rockers.

A source told the publication: “Everything Ed touches turns to gold.

“He is the biggest hit-maker on the planet. If anyone can make a film about the Beatles songs even better musically, it's him.”

The Castle on the Hill hit maker has openly shown his admiration for the group, in 2014 he took part in The Night That Changed America, a Grammys tribute to mark the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ first appearance on The Ed Sullivan show in 1964.

He performed an acoustic version of In My Life in front of a star-studded audience including Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.

McCartney was reportedly so impressed with the performance he later sent Sheeran a guitar.

He signed it: “For Ed, who is brilliant.”
