Ed Sheeran boasts over sixty tattoos across his chest and arms, but his latest inking contains a pretty blatant spelling error.
The singer-songwriter said he had wanted a new tattoo to immortalise his single ‘Galway Girl’ but was pranked by Oscar-nominated actress Saoirse Ronan in the process.
Addressing the crowds at his Glasgow concert on Sunday night, Ed revealed his pal, Saoirse, had purposely misspelled the song title in her handwritten design.
Consequently, Ed has been left with ‘Galway Grill’ permanently etched on his skin.
The unfortunate incident occurred while filming the music video for track with the ‘Atonement’ actress in Ireland last week.
According to The Sun, Ed shared the story with his most recent audience, explaining: “When we were filming [the video] I meant to get a tattoo of her handwriting saying Galway Girl from her point of view.
“The tattoo actually says Galway Grill. G-R-I-L-L. She really took the p*** out of me – full on.”
But it seems that the red-haired guitarist isn’t holding any grudges against the 23-year-old Irish star, as he revealed he was actually quite impressed by the practical joke.
“I haven’t actually told anyone yet. I’m actually quite proud of her. It’s the kind of thing I would do,” he added.
Ed has become known for his impressive body art collection, and recently admitted to spending 40 hours under the ink-pen.
His tattooist told MailOnline: “We’ve spent over 40 hours on Ed over the past year, and keeping it a secret was probably the hardest bit.
“Ed now has thirty tattoos on his front, plus countless ones down his arms.”
Hmm, perhaps he should consider hiring a proofreader before his next appointment?
