Yahoo News Ed Sheeran ‘expecting first child’ with wife Cherry Seaborn
Ed Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn are to become parents within weeks, according to reports.
The popstar, 29, and his childhood sweetheart, 28, are expecting a baby by the end of the summer, a source close to the couple told The Sun.
The pair have kept the news a secret but are said to be “over the moon”.
The source said Seaborn is already in the final stage of her pregnancy and the “excitement has been building”.
They told the news site: “Ed and Cherry are over the moon. They’re very excited, but have kept things very low key.
“Lockdown was a perfect excuse not to be seen out and about too much, but things are getting closer and the excitement has been building so they have started telling friends and family.
“They’re just making the last of the preparations at home, and the baby is expected later this summer.
“It’s a really happy time and their families are all totally delighted for them and cannot wait to meet the new arrival.”
The Shape of You singer and his former schoolmate tied the knot in December 2018 in an intimate ceremony attended by only their closest friends and family.
Sheeran announced the engagement on Instagram the previous January, saying: “Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well.”
On Christmas Eve last year, he announced he would be taking some time off after promoting his Divide album.
He posted to his millions of followers: “Hello all. Gonna go on another break again.
“The Divide era and tour changed my life in so many ways, but now it’s all over it’s time to go out and see some more of the world.
“I’ve been a bit non-stop since 2017 so I’m just gonna take a breather to travel, write and read.”
His manager Stuart Camp later hinted that he might consider fatherhood during the hiatus, joking: “He won’t sit still for long, he’s not the holiday sort.
“But things may change, he could have a young family relatively soon.”
