Speaking at the Oxford Union address earlier this week, the 42-year-old singer confirmed that he had been writing songs with fellow guitar-strumming star Ed Sheeran.

“I’ve been writing with Ed Sheeran actually… watch this space,” he teased.

Excuse us for Thinking Out Loud, but both musicians are signed with the same record label (Atlantic) so we’re actually wondering why this hasn’t happened before now.

The crooning combo made headlines after holding hands and jokingly announcing their engagement at the ARIA Awards last year.

And now, James and Ed will be channeling their clear admiration for one another into their brand new creative project.

James’ upcoming album will serve as the follow-up to 2013’s ‘Moon Landing’, which peaked at number two on the UK chart, with memorable hits ‘Bonfire Heart’ and ‘Heart to Heart’ making it into the UK singles chart.

Spanning back to the beginning of his career, the former army officer’s debut release ‘Back to Bedlam’ became the best selling album of the 2000s in the UK.

More recently, his new music partner, Ed Sheeran has been named the most played artist of 2015 in the UK in Phonographic Performance Ltd’s (PPL) annual People’s Charts.

So, in summary – we’re in for a real treat when Blunt’s fifth studio album is released in the near future.
