Ed Sheeran shares praise for Harry Styles’ debut solo album

Storm Doris may currently be battering Britain, but we’ve lost our chill for an entirely different reason this afternoon.

You see, Ed Sheeran (one of our personal favs) has only gone and revealed some super exciting details about Harry Styles’ (another one of our major favs) upcoming debut album.

It’s no secret that Ed and Harry are BFFs, with the One Direction singer having previously gone on record to declare that the redheaded crooner is responsible for one of his favourite songs of all time.

And now, the Shape of You singer has returned the favour by heaping on praise for Hazza’s new music after hearing an exclusive sample of the star’s first-ever independent release, which he describes as “quality.”

During a recent live Q&A on Instagram, Ed was asked about whether he knew when Harry’s album would be released, to which he coyly replied: “Maybe.”

However, when probed for further information about his pal’s solo material in an interview with Heat magazine, the singer-songwriter explained: “I’ve heard a little bit. It really shows him off as an artist and a singer, which is what it was always going to be.

“I can’t say too much about it as it’s not my project, and I’ve got no idea when it’s coming out. It’s quality.”

Harry has been working on new music ever since he signed a solo recording contract with Columbia Records last year, just a few months after One Direction announced their hiatus at the end of 2015.

And while there is no official word on when Harry’s album will be released, Columbia Records CEO Rob Stringer recently teased that the highly anticipated record would be hitting the shelves soon.

“We’re close and we’re very excited,” Rob smiled to Billboard. “We have a record we’re incredibly excited about and it’s not far away from being ready. We obviously want everything to be beautifully done, because we think he’s here to stay. Harry has stepped up with the vision of someone who’s authentic.”

In the meantime, you can fill the Harry Styles-shaped void in your life with a trip to the cinema to watch Christopher Nolan’s epic war movie Dunkirk, which is due to be released in July – and stars the singer-turned-actor in full soldier uniform.

Phowoar! You’re welcome.
