He might be one of the world's most successful musicians, but Ed Sheeran's lifestyle is a long way from rock 'n' roll as his daughter nears her first birthday.

Sheeran told the Zach Sang: Just The Interviews podcast (reported via the Mirror) he has strictly adopted a more traditional work schedule since Lyra was born in August 2020.

"My work now is very structured. I work nine to five. I go into work at 9am and finish at 5pm, no matter what," he said.

"Some producers work mad hours and I say to them: ‘If you don’t show up at 9am or between 9am and 10am, I am off’. We are either working or not working.”

Given the importance of fatherhood for Sheeran, any days of partying might just be behind him and he said he now loves "changing diapers and cooking and cleaning" more than almost anything else.

He said: "The other night my wife was in LA and we had a Mexican takeaway and were in bed at 8.30pm. It was like the perfect evening."

Despite this, the 30-year-old said he "didn't want to make an album about being a dad" and has chosen to explore different facets of his recent life.

He added: "I have done so much. I got married, I lost a good friend and bonded with my dad a bit more.

“It has been a rollercoaster of emotions and I have tried to capture it. It is like diary passages of how I felt then."
