Ed Sheeran's bought a pig-shaped statue - of HIMSELF

It can be hard finding stuff to spend your money on when you’ve been selling albums by the shed load, but Double Grammy award-winner Ed Sheeran found just the thing at a charity auction recently.

The 25-year-old star has just splashed out £6,200 on a pig-shaped statue of HIMSELF.

The pig sculpture, otherwise known as Ed Sheer-Ham (groan), was one of 39 larger-than-life pig sculptures that were auctioned off in aid of St Elizabeth Hospice in Suffolk last week.

Ed’s porcine doppelganger comes complete with ginger locks, a guitar and sleeve tattoos, and sports his trademark red check shirt. It was described by the star as “awesome” when he visited it on the streets of Ipswich during the summer.

The Thinking Out Loud singer initially told hospice staff that he would be happy to sign the pig for the winning bidder, but temptation obviously got the better of him.

“We were wondering if he would want to buy it,” said staff at the hospice, “but then he said he would sign the pig for the winner – he was very good at keeping everyone guessing.

“We are very glad that he decided to bid on Ed Sheer-Ham and to have raised £6,200 from his pig is fantastic, and will help make a real difference to our patients and their families.

“Ed has said that he is really excited about winning the pig and helping the hospice and that it will have pride of place.”

About 300 people attended the auction at Trinity Park in Ipswich, Suffolk, last week, which raised £152,550 for the hospice.

Ed also recently donated 13 bags of his clothes to the hospice shop in his hometown of Framlingham, Suffolk.

The sty-lish clothes, which included tee-shirts, hoodies, checked shirts, shoes and the shirt he wore when he made a cameo appearance in Bridget Jones’s Baby, have already raised nearly £5,000 for the hospice.

Nice work, Ed!
