Former Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick has said he'll be back to work "very soon" after it emerged he would not be charged over sexual assault allegations against him.

Last month, the LA District Attorney's Office said that there was "insufficient evidence" to move ahead with prosecuting the 31-year-old British actor and Westwick commented on the outcome for the first time this weekend.

"I'm delighted that everybody got it right," he told TMZ. "I'll be back to work very soon."

Westwick has denied accusations of historic sexual assault from two different women and has largely stayed out of the public eye since the allegations were made.

"It is disheartening and sad to me that as a result of two unverified and provably untrue social media claims, there are some in this environment who could ever conclude I have had anything to do with such vile and horrific conduct," Westwick wrote in now-deleted tweets at the time.

"I have absolutely not, and I am cooperating with the authorities so that they can clear my name as soon as possible."

The allegations led to Westwick's finished performance in the BBC's Agatha Christie adaptation Ordeal by Innocence being deleted and re-filmed by his replacement, Christian Cooke.

As for what Westwick could be working on next, his BBC Two comedy series White Gold was renewed for a second season last June but filming on the show was paused after the allegations were made last year.

"The independent production company making White Gold has informed us that Ed Westwick paused from filming while he deals with these allegations," the BBC explained at the time.

The show was one month into filming at the time production stopped, but there's been no updates on when or if filming will now resume.
