With a whole host of shows being revived, it would be understandable if Gossip Girl followed that trend after being off our screens for four years.

However, do not count on Chuck Bass returning to the fold, as star Ed Westwick has shot down rumours that it will happen.

"Nah, that's not gonna happen," the White Gold star told the Radio Times. "I know there's a bunch of them coming back – I hear they're doing Will and Grace, they've done Gilmore Girls

"But it's such a strange thing to think about. It feels like we only just finished! And I haven't done enough in between yet to feel like I could comfortably revisit it. And I did so much with that character – it's played out, man. It's done."

Yet Westwick would potentially return on one condition – if Netflix poured a whole load of money into the show.

"I'll do it then," he added.

The English actor played notorious bad boy Bass on Gossip Girl between 2007 and 2012, though has admitted there hasn't been "the greatest amount of [script] material coming through" since.

He also revealed that he auditioned for the role of King Arthur in Guy Ritchie's new movie, but lost out to Charlie Hunnam. We think in hindsight that was a bullet dodged.

Westwick will next be seen in White Gold alongside The Inbetweeners' Joe Thomas and James Buckley, which begins tonight (May 24) at 10pm on BBC Two.
