Eden Hazard: N'Golo Kante has changed PFA Player of the Year award after winning prize for doing dirty work

Eden Hazard says N'Golo Kante's PFA Player of the Year award marks a shift towards players earning recognition for doing the dirty work.

Hazard, who was a fellow nominee, has no complaints that Kante beat him to the individual gong which he won in 2015.

Hazard was runner-up to the Chelsea midfielder and the duo are also expected to fight it out for the Football Writers' Award next month.

But Hazard is not upset about losing out to Kante and said: "It's fully deserved. He had a great season with Leicester and then this season too.

"You know the trophy most times goes to the player who scores some goals or gets some assists and wins games, but N'Golo changed that.

"He is not scoring goals or making many assists, but he does a fantastic job on the pitch. He deserved to win."

Defender Gary Cahill is also set to return to the starting line-up for Chelsea's game against Southampton at Stamford Bridge this evening having recovered from gastroenteritis.

The England international has trained fully for the last few days.
