Eden Hazard insists Chelsea's Champions League ‘dream’ is alive and kicking after their 1-1 draw against Barcelona.

Lionel Messi's 75th-minute strike at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night ensured Barcelona walked away from their round of 16 first leg tie against Chelsea with a crucial away goal.

Willian had opened the scoring for the hosts with his fine, curling effort earlier in the second half, but a momentary lapse in concentration from Andreas Christensen allowed Andres Iniesta to win the ball back from the Dane's misplaced pass before he set up Messi for the equaliser.

Despite Barcelona having the advantage of an away goal, Hazard has insisted that Chelsea will go to the Camp Nou on the offensive - but admits the Blues must not make any defensive errors if they want to go through to the next round.

"At least we won’t be able to think defensively in the second leg because if we think defensively over there we will be in a lot of danger," the Belgian told reporters.

"We will go there trying to win because we have to score and we will try for the perfect game as we did today except for the small error that we made. That’s what made the difference because you’re up against Barcelona.

"Against other teams, perhaps you get away without letting in a goal. We played well. We had a plan to defend well, Perhaps we could have done more with the ball when we had it. It’s not over. We can still dream. Qualification is still possible."

Messi's goal on Tuesday broke his duck against Chelsea - with the Argentine coming into the match without a goal against the Blues in 655 minutes.

Despite being pleased with the way Chelsea largely contained Messi, Hazard admitted he is always a threat for Barcelona.

"We contained him well today," Hazard added. "When he’s outside the box he’s less dangerous than in it.

"He had one touch in the box today and he scored. That’s the difference he makes."
