Edinburgh A720: Drivers issued warning as 'incident' on major road triggers tailbacks

Edinburgh drivers have been issued a warning following an incident on a major road.

All lanes westbound on the city bypass near Straiton have been restricted, causing traffic to build up in the area.

Images from traffic cameras show traffic at a standstill after a broken-down vehicle was reported.

Queues are tailing back up towards Gilmerton and Sherriffhall.

It is understood police are at the scene, as well as vehicle recovery. Traffic Scotland have urged drivers to 'approach with caution'.

On social media, Traffic Scotland said: "All lanes partially blocked westbound on the A720 at Straiton Junction due to a broken down vehicle. Road users should approach with caution."
