Edinburgh Airport passengers caught up in long queues after security line fault

A traveller looking to fly out of Edinburgh Airport described being stuck in an 'insane queue' as they filmed their family walking past an extremely long line of fellow flyers outside of the airport building.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, user Xavier filmed a long snaking line that appeared to go from the front entrance of the airport towards the tram stop that is several hundred metres away.

Families could be seen standing stationary at about 6am on Saturday May 18 due to a technical fault with a line at security.

Another man who was looking to depart from the capital this morning took to Facebook at around 7am and complained of the queues stretching back to just before the tram stop.

They said: "Edinburgh Airport.

"Those who flying today.

"Que for security it starts from tram Stop. It's very very long.

"#edinburgh airport"

Edinburgh Airport's website shows that the average wait as of 10am is three minutes - meaning the issue has been resolved.

A spokesperson for Edinburgh Airport said: “A technical issue impacting one of our lanes meant longer wait times for some passengers at security this morning.

“This was resolved promptly and wait times returned to normal levels a short time later.”
