Edinburgh Asian restaurant announces sudden closure with short note to customers
An Indian restaurant on a busy Edinburgh road has closed permanently, less than a year after opening.
Desi Pakwan, on Moat Place, opened in January 2024 replacing Jashans restaurant, but a note appeared in the window recently confirming the eatery has closed and apologising to customers.
Desi Pakwan has a sister restaurant on Leith Walk which remains open as the team advertised the new venture on Moat Place for months ahead of the grand opening this year.

In December 2023 we reported how the team confirmed the takeover of the vacant ground floor unit as they uploaded a teaser video from outside the building sharing their excitement.
However, 10 months later a sign reading: "Sorry we've permanently closed" was stuck on the restaurant window as the future of the former Moat Bar which served locals in Chesser and Slateford.

Desi Pakwan was based on "Punjabi cosy dining" with room for 120 guests serving up meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner as a Facebook and Instagram page was specifically set up ahead of the opening.
No mention of the restaurant's closure has been posted by the team on social media.
