Edinburgh attractions and venues remain closed following storm chaos

After Storm Éowyn hit the country, residents woke up to damage and continued disruption on Saturday.

Several attractions and venues across the city have announced their closure for the day, with the effects of the storm lingering. This includes Edinburgh Zoo, Edinburgh Central Library and The Scottish Parliament.

Train services were expected to be delayed or revised until 'at least' midday. Engineers were inspecting tracks and overhead lines, with debris being moved.

Taking to X, Edinburgh Zoo said: "Due to damage caused by the storm yesterday we will be closed today.

"Our staff and animals are safe and well but there are a few trees down blocking paths. We hope to be open again tomorrow. All pre-booked visitors have been contacted."

Also on X, Edinburgh Central Library said: "Due to storm damage, the Reference Library is closed until further notice.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."

The Scottish Parliament added: "CLOSURE UPDATE - We are remaining closed on Saturday 25 January.

"The building is expected to reopen as normal on Monday."

Murrayfield Golf Club said: "Although the course is CLOSED due to snow and ice creating dangerous conditions, the bar and restaurant are still open!
